5 Simple Tips for Living with Less Plastic

5 Simple Tips for Living with Less Plastic

Plastic, as we all know, is a non-biodegradable material which never decomposes. Nowadays, considering its lifespan, it gets used more often than ever and believe it or not it is increasing. But, if we wish to truncate its use, we can always take a few steps to turn it down. Here are some tips to help you get there.

 1. Bring your own shopping bag

Plastic bags are generally used for a matter of minutes before being discarded and then take forever to break down. Most of us own reusable bags, but we need to make that extra effort to remember them when we need them. Keep a reusable bag by your front door, in your handbag, laptop bag, coat pocket, or glove compartment to make sure you never get caught out.

2. Carry a reusable water bottle

Rather than buy a disposable plastic water bottle, the healthier, more planet-friendly option is to always carry a reusable water bottle that you refill with tap water at home, work, the gym, or even by popping into a local café.

3. Clean your home with natural ingredients

There is no need of buying so many domestic cleaning products packaged in high-density plastic. A mixture of water and vinegar works just fine. Try these home remedies to work out your cleaning problems. This will help you to save money and usage of plastic will also reduce.

4. Synthetic clothes are much harmful than you think!

Using synthetic clothes is very concerning and the full implications of this on the ocean and human health are not known to humankind. As it is non-bio degradable, we can imagine the outcomes are not going to be good. The main way individuals can reduce plastic microfiber pollution is to choose clothes made from natural materials such as bamboo, wool, and cotton, and put pressure on retailers to prioritize ethical and eco-friendly options too.

5. Be creative & up-cycling

Instead of just going out with the old and in with the new, try taking what’s old and turning it into something new. You can use your old plastic items by re-implementing them and save your money on new ones at the same time. Use creative ways to get rid of the plastic at your homes & try making something new with the discards.

Along with these tips try to be more imaginative on how you can decrease the usage of plastic in and around your area. Remember, if you do your part, you have made a contribution already.
