India step forward with Worldbank to Develop Local Carbon Market

India presented its draft Market Readiness Proposal to Wold Bank initiative which supports countries to prepare and implement climate change mitigation policies, including carbon pricing instruments in order to scale-up GHG mitigation.

Manish Dabkara, CEO – EnKing International concluded that the draft mainly focuses on –

i) the creation of an integrated data management and registry system to support existing and potential new market-based and carbon pricing instruments;

ii) the enhancement of existing market-based and carbon pricing instruments, piloting of a new instruments that can be linked using a co-benefits approach, and catering to multiple domestic demands
